What is Go?
Go is a fascinating board game that originated in China more than 4,000 years ago. Also known as baduk, wei ch'i, weiqi, and igo, it is played today by millions of people, including thousands in the United States. In Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan, it is far more popular than chess is in the West.
Who are we?
We are a group of Go players from Sarasota and neighbouring counties whose strengths range from complete beginners (30 kyu) up to expert players (4 dan). We always welcome new players, out of town guests, or experienced players new to the area. We are more than happy to teach the rules to anyone interested. We organize tournaments and workshops for players of all levels of skill.
Where do we meet?
We meet Wednesdays at 7:30pm in Big E's café at the intersection of US 41 with Indian Beach Plaza in Sarasota, and Sundays at 11:00am in Borders Books at the intersection of US41 with Bee Ridge in Sarasota.
