Lloyd Goldstein and Ryan Pate on WMNFs "Live Music Showcase"
Friday, June 16th, 2006 from 9am till 10 am.
WMNF 88.5 FM is Tampa Bay's award winning community radio station, (for those who have not had the pleasure.) The Live Music Showcase airs every Friday morning at 9:00 am for an hour and features live performances and interviews with local and national touring artists who are performing in the Tampa Bay area.
The first half of the program will be similar to Lloyd's live concerts, weaving together original music for the bowed double bass with recitations of inspired writings from Lloyd's yoga practice, (minus the yoga poses, since after all, this is radio!)
The second half of the program will feature an eclectic variety of music by various composers, popular and traditional, as well as original compositions by Lloyd's teacher, Francois Rabbath. Lloyd will be accompanied by talented young guitarist, Ryan Pate, recently graduated from USF School of Music and on his way to the Manhattan School of Music in NYC. Much of the music they will perform is music that Lloyd utilizes in his work as a Certified Music Practitioner at the Moffitt Cancer Center. DJ Bill Dudley will also talk with Lloyd and Ryan about their music, yoga and Music for Healing. Lloyd is grateful to Bill for this opportunity to perfom live in the beautiful new WMNF studios.

Lloyd Goldstein is a Double Bassist, Music Practitioner, Yogi, and sometimes writer and painter offering an eclectic program of "musical, poetic, yogic, and painterly insights into Life, Death, and conscious participation in the present moment." Lloyd recently left the Florida Orchestra after 21 years to work as a Healing Musician, Solo Bassist, and Yoga Teacher. Lloyd has been working with patients at the Moffitt Cancer Center for two years and is hard at work finishing his book, Inside Yoga, First Years Journey.
Lloyd will perform on his rich and resonant Bowed Double Bass original compositions as well as those by his teacher Francois Rabbath, folksongs, ballads and more, weaving inspired writings and yoga into the mix. Lloyd actually recites one of his writings while standing on his head!
Writings and drawings from his upcoming book will be on display. Friends and colleagues may drop in to add their own unique flavors. It should make for a wonderful and unique experience.
This program was recently performed at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Tampa with great success. "The combination of yoga poses, music and recitation had the audience mesmerized . . . " Lloyd recently played live on the morning show on WMNF and was featured in an article in the St. Petersburg Times entitled, "Dharma and a Double Bass", by John Fleming.
