Detroit and Tampa settle up as 3 artists from each area code and 1 from both display new works of all different mediums. Musical guest RED TIDE at 9pm.
Distraught by similar urban dilemmas, 313 vs. 813 is an exhibition featuring 3 artists from Detroit, 3 from Tampa, and 1 from both. Detroit, a city known for its now-deteriorated industry that invented America's "Motor City"; and Tampa, known for its bygone days of hand-rolled Cuban cigars, both share a common interest - A boost in urban life and a promised arts renaissance. Anxiously awaiting this rebirth, these artists continue to make art that is an honest interpretation of the place they call “home”… or would like to.
Curated by Covivant's new Gallery Manager, Kristen N. Brown, the exhibition highlights works marked by pop surrealist objects in the form of paintings and sculpture with an urban flare. 313 vs. 813 displays the differences and similarities of work coming from two communities’ emerging artist sets at two different spots in the country.
Participating artists include: 7teen (Dennis Hayes), Kurt Halsey Frederiksen, Anna Cangialosi, Bask, Diran Lyons, Josh Taylor, and Ryan Prado.
