Internationally acclaimed Cuban artist Esterio Segura will be in residence at the School of Art and Art History during Arte 2005. He will exhibit large-scale mixed media works on canvas, a sculptural installation and a series of new drawings created especially for this exhibition. His art addresses memory and issues relating to Cuban society; his use of found objects and the relics of culture highlight his considerable insight and humor. Segura’s art has been exhibited in the U.S. as well as in Spain, Germany, England, Argentina and elsewhere in the world. This is Segura’s first exhibition in Florida. Esterio Segura Residency, Exhibition and Lecture Funded by the Golding Endowed Chair in Modern and Contemporary Art, the Burdines-Macy’s Endowment, and the Louise and Arnold Kotler Fund.
