Excerpts from
these sites: (She) doesn't make a habit of telling people she is a nun; she
would rather have people perceive her as a person first, Franciscan sister
second. But her vows of poverty and obedience are a big commitment in her
life... this accomplished artist and teacher just celebrated her 50th
anniversary as a nun.... She lives in a house on Davis Islands shared
with three other Franciscan nuns, including her twin sister. (Her sister, a
musician, works at Maria Manor in St. Petersburg.) In addition to 15 hours
a week on the job at Moffitt, Frances also paints and sells her artwork from
her studio on 56th Street near Temple Terrace....She holds an MFA degree
from Marywood University in Scranton, a Master of Education Degree from
Boston College, and is a registered expressive arts facilitator with the
International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. She has served as a
consultant for the University of South Florida's graduate program of
training in the expressive arts. |
